Just in case you’ve been living under a rock, Real Madrid defeated Juventus 4-1 to win their third UEFA Champions League title in four years. It was one hell of an achievement for a team who, as we all know, have been able to consistently perform at the highest level for quite a few decades now.
One of the main reasons for their continued success as of late has been Cristiano Ronaldo, with the Portuguese sensation taking the helm from David Beckham as being the most recognisable footballer on the face of the planet. Because of that, we think it’d be a pretty good idea to stick CR7 inside of the squared circle for a big time match or two.
Now yes, a lot of people hate celebrity interference inside of the wrestling world, but there have been a few success stories here and there, and Cristiano has the star power to make it work. Plus it’s not like he has to have a match at WrestleMania – because it could just as easily happen on any given episode of Monday Night Raw. Let’s make this happen, WWE.
So with that being said, here are five WWE opponents for Cristiano Ronaldo.
#1 Braun Strowman
Come on, this would just be so much fun. Ronaldo could come into the ring and ask for a match with anyone, being a tad cocky in the process. Then, probably at the request of Stephanie McMahon, Braun Strowman’s music hits and Cristiano immediately realises that his world is about to come crashing down around him.
You could have multiple interferences to make this one a tad less ridiculous because let’s face it, the idea of these two having an actual match would fill a lot of people with dread. Hell, you could even use social media to build this if you really wanted to and have Braun call out Ronnie both on Twitter and then in person.

#2 John Cena
One of the biggest wrestling stars ever coming face to face with one of the biggest football stars ever. Once again, this would be a complete mismatch, so there would have to be some sort of disadvantage in play here to make it seem even remotely fair. Oh, and it’d be even better if Cena were the heel heading into this scenario.
After all, the idea of Big Match John mocking someone like Cristiano for his appearance and personality would make for a classic case of ironic justice, and they could build it up to feel like a legitimate shoot between the two. Have them throw a couple of stiff punches in there because that’s how you get people invested.
Oh, dear...
#3 Brock Lesnar
Brock Lesnar is an utter machine, and in our heart of hearts, we are more than comfortable with seeing him F5 Cristiano Ronaldo all the way back to Madrid. This would be the kind of squash that would land WWE some serious mainstream attention, especially if you build up the idea that CR7 is seriously injured.
Think about the possibility of thousands upon thousands of Real fans thinking that Ronaldo was out injured from a ‘planned stunt’, only to discover that it was all a work on the opening day of the season. It would help to blur the lines between fiction and reality, which can never be a bad thing, and the benefits are endless.
Break the walls down.
#4 Chris Jericho
Heel Chris Jericho is potentially the best bad guy in the business, and it’s been that way for well over a decade now. Y2J is able to constantly reinvent himself, with one of the most baffling things about that being his ability to get different things over. He even managed to make a ‘list’ the coolest thing that the red brand has seen in years.
So let's harness that energy and creative ability into something unique - like a few week program with Cristiano Ronaldo. When you think about it, Jericho has done pretty much everything you can do in the business, so why not add another legendary encounter with a sporting legend to his resume? Drink it in, man.
It just had to be...
#5 Big Show
So Akebono, Floyd Mayweather and Shaquille O’Neal all walk into a bar – and all three end up with a match against WWE Superstar The Big Show. Wait, what? You heard us. The World’s Largest Athlete has been in the ring with some seriously random celebs over the years, so let’s tag one final addition onto the list.
Show vs. Ronaldo would certainly attract a lot of headlines, even if it comes across as being quite played out. We aren’t entirely sure as to whether or not the big man would be interested in another position like this, but if we ensure that he won’t be humiliated on the grandest stage of them all for the millionth time, then he may come around to the idea.
