#3 Michael Owen | Liverpool
The England legend was only 17 when he joined the ranks at Anfield. Before long, it was immediately clear that Michael Owen had massive potential.
WIithin a short year, the star had broken into the Reds' first team, scoring 18 Premier League goals. During the same season, Owen was in line for the Golden Boot, while picking up the Premier League Player of the Season award.
He was called up to England's squad, partaking in a FIFA World Cup, doing so at just 18 years. The star became world-renowned, continuing his brilliance for Liverpool, and entering legendary status across the Premier League's goalscoring charts.
By the time Owen was 21, he had won the Ballon d'Or, the coveted award Mbappe has not yet won yet.
#2 Lionel Messi | Barcelona
It was little surprise when Lionel Messi graduated La Masia and quickly joined up with the first team.
He had flourished throughout his growing years at Camp Nou, and the star slotted into the main side smoothly. At 16, Messi began his career on one of the biggest stages. By the time he was 19, the Argentine had become the team's pivot.
Another three years of flourishing under Pep Guardiola's Barcelona, Messi won his first Ballon d'Or award with the widest voting margin in history.
The Blaugrana may currently be in financial doldrums while struggling in the league. This is a far drop from where they once proudly stood, largely thanks to Messi. The Argentine won more than 30 trophies under Barcelona, and broke new records almost every year.
#1 Ronaldo Nazario | Brazilian legend
His pace, power, and clinical prowess made Ronaldo Nazario the biggest talent in Brazil, even before he made a move to Europe. Before he turned 22, Nazario had scored 200 goals. He had already picked up two World Cups, two SuperCups, and even more trophies.
It's really no surprise that Nazario won the FIFA World Player of the Year award twice, along with a FIFA World Cup Golden Ball and the European Golden Boot, all before he turned 23.
While Mbappe is yet to test himself outside the shores of the French Ligue 1, Nazario was already blossoming at PSV, Barcelona and Inter Milan at Mbappe's age.
Mbappe has struggled to win individual awards, mainly because of the Messi-Ronaldo dominance. However, the Frenchman looks set to take over from the duo.
