By doing so, Sir Alex Ferguson won his 3rd title in the newly created league. The club also won their 3rd FA Cup that season, becoming the 1st club win the double twice.
He again achieved the feat in the 1999/00 season, winning his 6th title by a record margin of 18 points. They also became the 1st British club to win the International Continental Cup after they defeated Palmeiras 1-0 in Tokyo.
He completed a hat-trick of this by going unbeaten again in 2010/11 season, winning his 12th league title in the process. The club also won its 14th Community Shield by defeating Chelsea 3-1.
