#7 Ronaldinho
For a lot of people who grew up watching football in the 2000s, Ronaldinho will forever be etched in their minds.
The Brazilian’s superior skills endeared him to fans all over the world and it was probably during the 2002 FIFA World Cup that his fan base grew in number. He scored two goals during Brazil’s victorious World Cup campaign including a memorable winner against England in the quarter-final.
A year after the World Cup, he moved to Barcelona where he enjoyed the best years of his professional career.
In 2005, he won the La Liga with Barcelona and then followed it up by winning the Confederations Cup. During the latter tournament, he scored three goals, including one against Germany in the semifinal and one against Argentina in the final. He ended a very good year at the club and international level by claiming the Ballon d’Or.
The 2005/06 season was statistically Ronaldinho’s best season in Europe as he scored 26 goals in 45 games. Seven of his 26 goals came in that season’s UEFA Champions League which Barcelona won by defeating Arsenal 2-1 in the final.
Although he played in Europe for another five years, he was unable to add another Champions League winners medal to his name.
