Ronaldo could not win over the always unsatisfied Bernabeu crowd

O Fenomeno moved to ply his trade for Los Blancos after a five-year stint with Inter Milan. His signing was a statement of intent from Real Madrid as Ronaldo had recently played a huge part in Brazil's 2002 World Cup success

During his three years with Madrid, Ronaldo scored 85 goals in all competitions but could not get accepted by the highly critical Bernabeu crowd. The Real loyalists were taunting Ronaldo about his weight and also about the fact that he had won just one league title during his second spell in Spain.

This made Ronaldo disinterested at Real Madrid and hence moved to AC Milan in January 2006. He once opened up about his troubled relationship with the Bernabeu crowd when he admitted, "I have never felt loved at the Santiago Bernabéu and I don't understand why. I have never been treated with affection here."
