A harsh letter to RVP

My daily routine the first day in the morning was to check the sports section in the newspaper about recent news on Arsenal. At first, I was happy about the recent players added to the team with the likes of Podolski and Giroud. But then, today’s news has come as a shock to not only me, but to every Arsenal fan in the world.

But let us see, where did it all go wrong. Who was responsible for this episode. Why did Robin van Persie not sign another contract with the Arsenal team? Is he another of the so-called types who want to win trophies? I most probably think so. That’s why Fabregas, Nasri, or even Torres went away from their respective teams because they wanted to win trophies. Maybe they have won trophies but how much have they contributed to it? Not as much as they did for their previous team.

Let us see the others who went away to other teams. Fabregas was the most important player and captain of the Gunners till the fateful day. But when he went to his boyhood club, was he in the starting line-up? With the likes of Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets and Messi, he would always have to be substituted. Was it worth it? And he did won Copa del Ray. But he was not at all of the impact he was at Arsenal.

Samir Nasri is the finest example. He was an attacking midfielder during his days at Arsenal. As soon as he went to Manchester City, he was on the bench. Was his seat in the bench worth 25 million euros?

Same goes for Kaka, Torres and many more ‘want to win trophy’ types. But for now, we are focusing on just Arsenal. I know even Wenger is to blame, partly. Wenger is so lost on the glory of 2003-04 that he sticks to only one motto, ‘Buy amateur players and make them big’. He was also partly to blame for the departure for these high- profile players.

According to my statistics (maybe wrong), most of the famous stars in our team was taken by two teams, namely Manchester City and Barcelona.

Some of the Arsenal players in Manchester City and Barcelona :-

Manchester City :- Kolo Toure, Emmanuel Adebayor, Gael Clichy, Samir Nasri.

Barcelona :- Thierry Henry, Alexander Hleb, Cesc Fabregas.

So any guesses where RVP will go? Both of them have expressed their interest in buying him. There is also a surprising offer from Juventus. Yes, Wenger is also partly to blame for always being late in signing an extension, but he is not the reason for the trophy drought. Even RVP or other players are to blame.

A manager only guides the team to make the game play and manage the financial affairs of the club. He does not play on the pitch to guide the team to victory. Instead, he has to just sit silent and watch the game and throw some curses when someone is not upto the limit. So the thinking ‘leave the club to win trophies’ is pure bullshit.

Let me give some reality check to RVP before he leaves. Why did you not score during the start of premier league till the 8-2 humiliation to Manchester United? It was then that Wenger took Arteta, Benayoun and so many players to rejuvenate the team.

RVP got famous because of Arsenal and Arsenal only. What was he at Feyenoord? No one. It was when he came to arsenal that he blossomed. In the last premier league, it may be true that he scored when he wanted. But who was responsible?

It was Alex Song, Rosicky and other play making geniuses in the midfield. His fantastic volley goal against Everton and some of his goals was due to Alex Song’s fantastic assists. Does he think he would get another Alex Song anywhere in the other clubs. If he thought so, then he should have also helped the Netherlands reach at least the quarterfinals in the Euros. But where was that RVP. He did not score when he wanted in the Euros.

Most of you all won’t agree with me. But according to me, winning trophies don’t matter. Playing a huge role in winning trophies matter. But it’s not worth. My article will not be read by RVP at all!! So it all falls on deaf ears.

RVP, If you get this message, please hear. Maybe we Arsenal wont be the same without you. We may also cope up. But remember, you are always welcome whenever you want to come here. You are now one of the beloved in our family and it also hurts to see you go. I tried to be harsh to you but whatever it is, you were our backbone. Please reconsider your decision.
