A letter to Sir Alex

amit

Respected Sir,

Today is perhaps the saddest day in the history of Manchester United after the Munich mishap. The news of your retirement came as a crushing blow to all your supporters, or allow me to say, devotees all round the world. The mind simply can’t accept that Old Trafford will no longer be graced by your presence.

The journey of 26 years comes to an end, and yes, once again, as is your trademark, on a winning note. Today, not only Manchester United, but the whole football fraternity lost its true emperor. The contribution you made to the modern day football will always be remembered for years to come.

I remember your desire to be the best when you said, “My greatest challenge is not what’s happening at the moment, my greatest challenge was knocking Liverpool right off their fucking perch. And you can print that.”

I remember you pushing your team to the limits when you said,” At the end of this game, the European Cup will be only six feet away from you, and you’ll not even able to touch it if we lose. And for many of you, that will be the closest you will ever get. Don’t you dare come back in here without giving your all.”

Thank you very much, sir for all that you have done for the club, its players and its supporters. I hope the legacy continues. Farewell to the father of modern football.

Wish you a happy and a cheerful life ahead.

Your fan,

Amit
