A Look at Manchester United's Future Stars

Manchester United, as one may say, the only club in the Premier League with history, present and future. Manchester United have had several outstanding players in the past, namely Duncan Edwards, Sir Bobby Charlton, George Best, Denis Law. The 1990′s saw United dominate the Premier League like never before. Since then, United have dominated England more than any other team, and still they continue to exhibit their dominance under Sir Alex Ferguson. The gaffer has already invested in for the future of United.

Let’s have a look at the future stars of Manchester United.

1] David de Gea:Undoubtedly, the spanish keeper will be United’s first choice for a long period. De Gea, aged 20, is one of the most promising goalkeepers in Europe. Manchester United were successful in luring the service of this young Spaniard this summer for a fee of around 17.8 million euros. De Gea has excellent reflexes but he will have to work hard to become one of the world’s best. He surely has the capability to become Spain’s no.1 someday soon, maybe after Casillas’s retirement from International circuit. He definitely has what it takes to be an excellent goalkeeper.2] The Da Silva twins:The young Brazilian twins, aged just 21, are widely regarded as one of the best full backs in the Premier League. Rafael’s blistering pace, Fabio’s stamina, their attacking mentality have all drawn them in comparison with United legend Gary Neville. Rafael and Fabio are the youth products of the Brazilian club Fluminense, and were spotted by Manchester United scouts in 2005. The twins moved to Manchester United in 2008. Without a shadow of a doubt, both of them are two young outstanding players to watch out in the upcoming seasons.

3] Phil Jones:A huge future prospect, maybe the best centre-back for the U-21 England side, Jones aged just 19, has put in a string of brilliant performances that impressed various clubs across England. Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal gave United a stiff competition in the transfer market for his signature. However, the young English star agreed to move to Manchester United for a fee of around 16 million euros. Jones has already been touted to be a future captain for the English national side by Gary Neville. Manchester United have found a long term replacement for Rio Ferdinand. A great buy for United this summer!

He has the capability to play in both the centre back position as well as a full back. A very good utility player for Manchester United. Smalling and Jones have been already regarded as the future centre backs of both United and the England national side. Both of them have a very good understanding while playing together, which we saw at the U-21 European Championship. Both of them form a very vigorous defence to break through.

5] Tom Cleverley:Cleverley is aged 21 and is a very promising young talent. He has what it takes to be a fine midfielder. Tom generally plays as a centre midfielder but sometimes plays on the wings as well. He had his loan spell at Wigan last season, and has gained a lot of experience, which was on display in the pre-season games. Sir Alex has said that there is a huge possibility he will break into the starting 11 in the beginning of the season. Another English youngster and United star to watch out in the upcoming seasons.

6] Ravel Morrison: Yet another young English star, Ravel Morrison, aged 18, put in some excellent performances for the Manchester United reserve team last season. Morrison is a Manchester United youth product and has everything that a midfielder needs. Pace, Stamina, Vision, and has a great eye for goal. Morrison has been in trouble in the past with his off-the-field antics and let’s hope that he sorts all those things out. Because he is just too good to not be on the football field.7] Paul Pogba:Pogba, aged just 17, is a stoic French midfielder. A midfield dynamo who’s been compared to such great stars like Patrick Vieira and Abou Diaby, he has been developing a reputation for himself. The youngster captained his country at U-16 level and is widely known at the club for his physical power, dribbling skills and long range screamers.

8] Ryan Tunnicliffe:Tunnicliffe, aged 18, is another English teenager who has come up through the youth academy of Manchester United. Tunnicliffe has been compared to United’s ex-captain Roy Keane for his style of play, he’s a great tackler of the ball, and is very good at breaking opposition play. He’s a very versatile player who can be used as a full back as well as a centre back. He’s the best in going box-to-box like Ince or Robson used to do.

9] Danny Welbeck:A very young talented English striker, aged 20. Yet another Manchester United youth product, Welbeck had his loan-spell at Sunderland last season, and had an outstanding season with the Black Cats. Welbeck has got everything a striker requires, he’s very quick, has great control over the ball, dribbling skills and can also play in the wings, where he really likes exhibiting some classy tricks. Welbeck has established a great name for himself among the United fans already.

10] Federico Macheda:Macheda, aged just 19, is an Italian striker who came up through the youth ranks of Italian club Lazio. Macheda joined United in 2007. Macheda has a very good finishing ability, he’s incredible at scoring at a 1 on 1 situation against the goalkeeper. He has got great potential left in him to be fulfilled. He had his loan-spell at Sampdoria last season where he managed to get decent performances for the club. Macheda has already been a United ‘fans legend’ after his last minute crucial goal against Villa in 2009. Macheda and Welbeck could definitely form a very deadly duo upfront for Manchester United in the coming years. With young blood like this out there who have the capability to fill in the space left by great players, we can say the future of United is safe.Glory Glory Manchester United!
