Struggling Italian Serie A giants AC Milan today presented their new No. 10, Japan’s Keisuke Honda who they have signed on a free transfer from Russian Premier League side CSKA Moscow.

AC Milan made a big presentation for new signing Keisuke Honda with over 100 journalists present and nearly half of them from Japan, which is usual for the Asians if one of their star footballers signs for a big club.

AC Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani said, “Honda is the first Japanese player to wear the Milan shirt. He will be given the number 10 shirt, worn by Ruud Gullit, Savicevic, Boban, Rui Costa, Seedorf, Boateng.”

The Osaka-born 27 year old Keisuke Honda started his professional career with J-League side Nagoya Grampus, before moving to Dutch Eredivisie side VVV Venlo and then CSKA Moscow of Russia.

Now Honda fulfils his childhood dream as he said, “I knew one day my dream would be realised,” he said. “When I was 12, I wrote in an essay that one day I would play in Serie A as a number 10. My career was destined to be here and my heart was set on Milan.”

“I think that Kaka and Mario Balotelli are the number ones in the world and I am looking forward to playing alongside them. We will try to win the title next year and become champions together. I wanted to come here, to be a champion here with the club, but I am thinking about the Champions League. I know all the players and as a child I watched the matches on TV every week,” Honda added.
