AC Milan have signed French centre-back Adil Rami from Valencia on a three-year deal until 2017. The defender had been playing for AC Milan for the last six months on loan after he had criticised Valencia manager Miroslav Djukic.
New Milan manager Filippo Inzaghi decided to exercise the option for a permanent move that the loan deal carried.
Amazingly, the two clubs had failed to reach an agreement on the transfer fee for the player with the Spanish side demanding €4.25 million with the Italian giants adamant that they wouldn’t pay more than €3.75 million.
Milan had earlier refused to pay Rami’s original buy-out clause amount of €7million.
In a bid to force the transfer through, the player paid €0.5 million from his own pocket as confirmed by club vice-president Adriano Galliani.
