Michael Van Praag, the chairman of Dutch FA, said that he will take action towards the way players behave with referees in the popular sports video game, EA Sports’ FIFA 13, after getting many complaints from parents.
Van Praag has also said that he has taken the complaints seriously and has brought the issue forward to the governing body.
The complaints from parents came up mainly because parents felt that the players’ behaviour towards referee’s decision in the game was not appropriate.
“I responded to the request of many parents to change the way players react to referees on the Fifa PlayStation Game.I did so by mentioning the problem at the Fifa Associations Committee. They will deal with it,” Van Praag tweeted.
The players criticize the referees decisions angrily in the game. Some parents also think that such games will have an negative impact on their children’s behaviour.
Van Praag also said, “A lot of parents are annoyed by it. It’s like FIFA is teaching young kids that this is normal. Parents have asked the Dutch FA to ask FIFA and EA to ban protesting players from the video game.“
Supporting FIFA he said, “FIFA doesn’t make these games itself. It gives a license to a company that makes games.“
The Dutch FA are yet to respond to this matter.
