Adidas unveiled 16.1 Gloro on December 2, 2015 (Adidas signing off 2015 with style). Gloro is a modern take on the classic Copa Mundial. Copa Mundial first came out in 1979. This football boot was a perfect football boot for many. Simple styling, great first touch, premium K-leather made Copa Mundial legendary.
16.1 Gloro is all set to replace this iconic football boot. Does it have what it takes to replace the ageless Copa Mundial?
Short answer: Yes.
Adidas did a splendid job with this football boot. It was never going to be an easy job. Adidas had to make sure that the shoe looked modern and at the same time, it did not lose its identity. Adidas originally launched the Gloro concept in early 2015. 16.1 Gloro is next big thing in this revolutionary design concept from Adidas.

We have a much wider choice when it comes to styling with this brand new football boot. Copa Mundial was available in traditional black with white stripes. While, 16.1 Gloro is much more colorful. It is available in four exciting colorways. These include traditional black, white, red and black with Neon Green decals. We see Adidas branding on the outsole as well as the instep. Bold Gloro branding is seen on the heel area of the boot. We love the black/neon green colorway. That colorway is just spectacular.
Regarding the upper, the Adidas 16.1 Gloro football boots feature a super-soft Kangaroo leather in the forefoot area. The best part about this football boot is that it replaces the traditional stitching style. This will make the football boot much more comfortable. Always a plus while playing the beautiful game. Tongue-less design is a revolution. This is the first Gloro/Copa Mundial football boot that does not feature a tongue.
That does not end there, we see much more innovation in the heel area. Adidas introduced a synthetic material that mimics the properties of leather. This should offer better stability while on the pitch. Along with this, the durability of the shoe is greatly improved. We see synthetic lining on the inside of this football boot. Live through amazing step-in comfort along with a supreme lockdown with 16.1 Gloro. With improved padding, experience much better ball control.
Adidas introduced a die-cut EVA insole with 16.1 Gloro. This material not only reduces the overall weight of the football boot but also is very comfortable. A completely redesigned outsole with conical stud configuration offers better rotational agility. This stud configuration also offers much better traction on firm ground (FG) surfaces. Lattice pattern on the soleplate should offer enhanced structural integrity. Support levels are great with 16.1 Gloro.
Overall, 16.1 Gloro is a good advancement of the original Copa Mundial. With better technologies and better materials, this shoe is a definite buy for everyone who is looking for a professional leather football boot but are on a tight budget.
Adidas 16.1 Gloro football boots retail at $100 i.e., around 7,000INR. Availability in India is TBA.
Bottom-line: Copa Mundial breathes a new life.
