99 grams. Yes, 99 grams is the total weight of the new Adidas Adizero 2015 Crazy-light football boot. Adidas announced in 2013 to release a limited edition of the 99g football boots in 2015. The German company finally released the lightest available football boots on 13th April, 2015.
Don’t be under the impression that the light-weight material offers a dip in performance. The cleat is rock solid in the performance area.
Adidas first previewed these boots in May 2013, during the UEFA Champions League Final 2012-2013. The 2014 model weighed 140 grams but Adidas just outclassed themselves by releasing the 99g 2015 model. This is the first football boot under 100 grams.
The new boot features a completely redesigned upper made from a single layer of woven polyester. This semi transparent upper is combined with polyurethane to seal the boot. For the first time Adidas has used an ultrathin material for upper, replacing the traditional synthetic material. The whole model is based on the 2013 Crazy Light prototype model.
The outsole is made of polyamide, the featured polyamide is only 1mm thick. This allows the sole plate to be as light as possible while providing uncompromising stability. It features triangular studs for instant acceleration on FG (firm ground) surfaces. The 7 studs on the front outsole aid in acceleration while the 3 studs on the heel outsole help improving stability.
The boot is not affected by any weather condition and will ‘always’ weigh 99 grams.
Regarding the styling, the red Adidas performance logo is seen on the heel area. The iconic three stripes in black are featured on both the sides while the shoe is mainly featured in white as the base color. At the moment, only one colorway is available.
The Adidas Adizero 2015 Crazy-light football boots are a part of the new Adidas ‘Limited Collection.’ What makes the Limited Collection unique is that only 299 pairs are available for sale worldwide. The sad part is that only one boot size (size 9) will be available.
Colorway available:
White/Black/Solar Red.
The price is around 300 Euros i.e. around 20,000 INR and is up for sale from 15th April, 2015. Are you in a mood to buy one of these? Better hurry up, there’s no time to waste.
Bottom-line: To run with these boots, one has to run first to buy the boots.
