The German Football League (DFL) has extended the official matchball contract for all Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga fixtures with Adidas for another four season, from the start of the 2014/15 until the end of the 2017/18 campaign. The deal was agreed by the management of the DFL and the League Association Board after an open, transparent and discrimination-free tender process which had been running since May 2013 under the guidance of the DFL’s subsidiary DFL Sports Enterprises.
Since the 2010/11 season adidas has held the rights to develop and provide the official matchballs and winter matchballs for the Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga, a deal which was first announced in 2009.
The tender process ensured that there was a level playing-field relating to the provision of official match balls for the German professional football league’s. This season, Adidas’ ‘Torfabrik 4′ ball is being used in the Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga.
