Adidas unveiled X 15.1 last year as part of the Football Revolution. Both the X 15.1 and the Ace 15.1 did bring a revolution to the beautiful game. Over the course of the last year, Adidas launched several new tiers under the same banner such as Ace 16+ Primeknit and Adidas’s first lace-less football boots. It did not end there; Adidas unveiled X 15+ SL. Players wore X 15+ concept during the last season’s UEFA Champions League final. Adidas revamps the design and brings it out for retail sale.
SL version from Adidas is smoothing similar to that of what we see from Puma’s SL (evoSPEED SL) – Super Light. The primary goal was to shed the weight of X 15.1, while not losing its amazing characteristics. After much thought and design, we get X 15+ SL.
This football boot looks a lot similar to the white colorway of X 15.1. X 15+ SL features identical colors but there are some subtle design differences here. For example, we will no longer see a complete white upper. With the X 15+ SL, Adidas introduced a dual tone upper. This combines the classic colors of black and white (talk about the contrast). We see the heel area in black color, while the white color dominates the forefoot area. Light green assents are all over the football boot. Adidas pulls of a masterstroke with the design (When have they failed?). The black outsole houses blue and black studs. We see Adidas branding on the back-of-the heel area of the football boot.
Technically, it is not the same X 15.1. We see a reengineered X-CAGE. A new shine-through TPU material makes up the brand new X-CAGE. Like the original, this one offers exceptional lockdown. Not only that, this material is a lot lighter. This should help in reducing the weight of the football boot.
X-SKIN gets an upgrade too. It now features a complex three-layered system. Comfort levels are unparalleled. You shall also experience a tremendous first touch. With the new construction, all your agile movements should a walk in the park. The support levels are unmatched.
That is not the end of the upgrade, there is more. Adidas’s iconic TechFit collar also receives an advancement. Compression fit along the ankle area will offer additional support and stability. On the outsole, we see the X-CLAW soleplate. This is similar to what we see on the regular Adidas X football boot. The traction levels of this football boot are simply outstanding.
With all the improvements, the new X 15+ SL weighs around 204g; the regular X weighs around 239g. However, if you are looking for something that is much lighter from Adidas, you can always try Adidas’s Adizero Crazylight 2015 99g – this football boot weighs 99g!
Adidas athletes such as Thomas Muller, Gareth Bale, Luis Suarez, and James Rodriguez will wear the brand new X 15+ SL.
Adidas X 15+ SL retails at $250 i.e., around 17,000INR. Availability in India is TBA.
Bottom-line: The Football Revolution continues.
