The buzz about Manchester United this year has been their historic 20th title triumph, the unforeseen retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson and the appointment of David Moyes to lead the charge of the Red Devils.
Amongst the everyday rant of Manchester United not signing a marquee player and disappointing pre-season games, what’s trending these days in most fan clubs, forums and dailies is United’s prolific youngster, Adnan Januzaj.
The youngster made huge strides in the fabled academy of the Red Devils, alongside the likes of Jesse Lingard, Michael and Will Keane, Tom Thorpe and Larnell Cole, and has gathered a good taste of competitive football in United’s pre-season friendly tours, besides being a regular for the club at youth levels. He has mesmerised everyone with his stand-out performances and has been catching the eye of experts every week.
THE SCOUT REPORT:
Januzaj is basically a right winger, even though he is left footed. However, he can also play with equal grace on the left wing, central midfield, or even as a false 9 or striker, and he fits into these positions like a jigsaw piece in a puzzle. Having already been rewarded with a first team spot this season, he has been phenomenal in United’s games of late.
He is calm and composed in possession, and can parry the ball safely to a team-mate even when closed down by two or three players. He might be lean in appearance, but has good balance off and on the ball, with an ability to accelerate quickly.
Talk of step-overs, nutmegs or dribbling past defenders; he has got it all and exhibits an amazing sense of vision, as his short passes pick up team-mates with remarkable ease and grace. This is evident from the good number of chances he has created for forwards in the last few games.
What catches the eye is his amazing balance. He might have a delicate frame, but his skills on the ball helps him get past physically grueling opponents. He has a good height and can win aerial duels effectively.,/p.
In the pre-season matches, he dictated the tempo well despite the high work rate of the Asian teams. Keen observation reveals the boy in the No. 44 shirt is always looking around him and trying to create space, locate his team-mates and get the ball rolling. He can fake receiving a pass or get the ball rolling the other end with a lovely dip of the shoulders. He can retain the ball well or take amazing first touches to ignite counter attacks as well.

Comment: The next big thing in world football.
United has seen the departures of some remarkably talented youngsters recently, including the likes of Magnus Eikrem, Mats Daehli, Ravel Morrison and Paul Pogba. However at a tender age of 18, Adnan has shown that he is unlike any other academy graduate of United.
He has got ‘that special something’ to make it count every time he gets on the ball. A lot has been said about his dedication to his trade and love for the club. He has declared that he would love to stay at the club and fight for his place, besides learning from the elite at Old Trafford, rather than move on loan for more first team football.
It will be interesting how many opportunities United hand him this season after his impressive performances in the pre-season. He is certainly the next big player in the footballing books, and in due course, if not this season itself, he is bound to take the Premier League by storm, besides being the spark in United’s midfield in the coming years.
