India was clubbed with hosts United Arab Emirates, Thailand and Bahrain in Group A of the Final Draw at the 2019 AFC Asian Cup held in Dubai on Friday evening. India skipper Sunil Chhetri was present at the grand occasion which decided the fate of the top 24 teams from Asia for the upcoming mega event in a year’s time.

Bahrain is set to get the action underway against the hosts in the opener at the Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi on January 5, 2019. India will start their campaign against Thailand the following day at the Al Nahyan Stadium, which is also in Abu Dhabi, followed by their match against hosts UAE on January 10. Meanwhile, their third and final Group A match will be against Bahrain on January 14.
Defending champions Australia has been placed in Group B alongside Syria, Palestine and Jordan. The Socceroos will face Jordan in the opening tie of the group while Palestine will clash against Syria. Australia seems to be the clear-cut favourite from the group while Syria is likely to grab the second spot.
Heavyweights South Korea and China are in Group C with Kyrgyzstan and Philippines. Neighbours Iran and Iraq set their date in Group D alongside the likes of Vietnam and Yemen. Three-time champions Saudi Arabia will lock horns with Qatar, Lebanon and North Korea in Group E. Favourites Japan have been clubbed with Uzbekistan, Oman and Turkmenistan in Group F.
Top two teams will qualify for the round of 16 along with four best third-placed teams. The quarter-finals will be played on January 23rd and 24th respectively, while the semi-finals will be staged on27th and 28th of the same month. The final will be played on February 2019 at the Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
