The India Under-16 boys will face Tajikistan in their opener of the AFC Under-16 Championships qualifiers in Kuwait City on September 21, the Asian Football Confederation has informed. Besides Tajikistan, India have been clubbed in Group A alongside hosts Kuwait, Lebanon and Bhutan.
The India Under-16 boys had qualified for the final phase of the last edition of the AFC Under-16 Championships in 2012, which had been played in the Iranian capital Tehran.
India play their second match on September 25 against Lebanon followed by a match against Bhutan on September 27, while the U-16 boys play their last match against hosts Kuwait on September 29.
All the matches of the Group A qualifiers would be played at the Ali Sabah Al-Salem Stadium in Kuwait City.
The Group winners of the 10 qualification groups and the best five runners-up will join host Thailand in the finals of next year’s AFC Under-16 Championships with an aim to qualify for the 2015 FIFA Under-17 World Cup.
