In commemoration of the late Saad Abdul-Latif, former Chief Executive Officer of PepsiCo Asia, Middle East and Africa, the Asian Football Development Project (AFDP) and its Official Partner PepsiCo joined forces today with the Jordan Football Association (JFA) to celebrate the life of a remarkable man who supported football with passion and deeply believed in the importance of the involvement of women and children in the game.
Around 30 coaches and 400 young girls who play at the Prince Ali Centers across Jordan took part in a football festival to kick-off three days of events, including the Saad Abdul-Latif AFDP Grassroots Round Table on October 26 and 27 to be hosted by AFDP Chairman and JFA President HRH Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein and attended by international organizations and clubs such as AFC, UEFA, FC Bayern Munich, Chelsea FC, and the football associations of Afghanistan, China, England, Germany, Japan, Jordan, Norway, Philippines and Vietnam.
“It is really a joy today to see so many talented young girls out on the field enjoying the nation’s favourite game to the fullest extent. I am sure Mr Saad Abdul-Latif would have been very happy to be remembered in such a way as he was such a strong supporter of AFDP’s aims to grow and promote this segment of the game,” Prince Ali said.
The family and friends of the late Saad Abdul-Latif took part in the activities and delivered the awards for the winning teams. Gifts were also distributed by Ms. Karin Danner on behalf of FC Bayern Munich, and Ian Woodroffe on behalf of Chelsea FC.
