Zambia beat Zimbabwe 1-0 while Uganda drew 2-2 against Mali in the Africa Nations football Championships at Umuganda Stadium.
Chipolopolo's Isaac Chansa scored for Zambia at the 58th minute to give Zambia the lead in a Group D match on Tuesday, reports Xinhua.
Zimbabwe had several chances but failed to take advantage due to a solid Zambian defence.
Meanwhile, in the group's other match, Uganda started the game well. They led 2-1 till the 59th minute. But Mali equalised the next minute through Hamidou Sinayoko.
Ugandan defender Joseph Ochaya scored the first goal, slotting the ball in an empty net in the 11th minute from a free-kick by Farouk Miya.
Mali increased the pressure and they got the equaliser through a left-footed shot from Seydou Keita.
Uganda led the game after winning a penalty after Erisa Sekisambu was fouled inside the box as Farouk Miya scored from the resulting penalty in the 41st minute.
Uganda will play Zambia on Friday while Zimbabwe will meet Mali.
