The All India Football Federation (AIFF) issued a show cause notice to Mohun Bagan captain Odafa Okolie on Monday for his actions in the derby against East Bengal on December 9.
Odafa was shown the red card for verbally attacking and gesturing at referee Vishnu Chauhan and the AIFF believe it was the Nigerian’s violent behaviour that angered the Mohun Bagan fans in the stands.
The striker has been given a week to respond to the show cause notice and explain his actions.
It was learnt that the most expensive player in Indian football could be heavily fined and face a lengthy fine.
