Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal lock horns at the Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Sports City on Saturday in the finals of the 2024 Saudi Super Cup. The Blue Waves are one step away from retaining their cup while the Knights of Najd are looking to end a five-year wait to bring the prize home.
Cristiano Ronaldo-led Al-Nassr overcame Al-Taawoun in the semi-finals. Goals from Ayman Yahya and the Portuguese superstar, earned them a 2-0 victory, although Marcelo Brozovic saw red for them in stoppage time.
The Croatian will have to sit out of the showpiece clash this weekend as head coach Luis Castro is forced to make at least one change for the finals.
On the other hand, reigning Saudi champions Al-Hilal narrowly avoided a loss as Aleksandar Mitrovic canceled out Roberto Firmino's opener for Al-Ahli with an equalizer in the 90th minute.
Neither side could find the winner in the remainder of the match, and it went to a penalty shootout, where Gabri Veiga and Roger Ibanez missed their attempts for Al-Ahli, while the Blue Waves converted all of theirs.
Four-time winners of the domestic Super Cup, Al-Hilal are looking to extend their record in the competition by winning their fifth title against their heated city rivals.
