In a massive blow to English giants Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, the much courted Dinamo Zagreb starlet Alen Halilovic has signed for the Catalan giants, Barcelona, in a long term 5-year deal.
The deal was struck after Barcelona’s sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta and football management director Raul Sanllehi travelled to Croatia to watch the player in action.
The Spanish outfit subsequently struck a deal, and are reportedly shelling out £6million up front, with £4 million more in add-ons, subject to him making the first team squad.
The rising star, dubbed the ‘Next Modric’, has been on the radar of several top European clubs over the last couple of months, including Barcelona’s most fierce rivals, Real Madrid.
Although the deal has not been announced officially, it is confirmed by the 17-year old’s status on his instagram account.
It said, “Thanks Dinamo Zagreb for everything!!My first club and biggest love!!Now is time to move on to Barcelona.”
