Many a football fan do not even know that this great had a footballing career before he stepped into the shoes of Ron Atkinson who was sacked in 1986. From then on , there was no turning back for this brilliant manager as he piled on trophy after trophy for Manchester United during his 26 year reign.

  3. He has won the Manager Of The Year award most number of times in British footballing history.
  4. Ferguson is the longest serving manager of Manchester United, overtaking Sir Matt Busby's record on 19 December 2010.
  5. Alex Ferguson has managed the most number of Premier League games – 808.
  6. He has the record for the most wins in the history of the Premier League – 527.
  7. Alex Ferguson with 65.2% is beaten to the top post of highest win percentage in the Premier League by Mourinho(69.2). We have to take the fact into account that Mourinho has managed only about a seventh of the number of matches Fergie has managed. Fergie would probably take this record in the years to come.

Alex Ferguson in the past 27 years has become a stuff of legend. The present generation and the future ones would remember him as the most legendary manager who ever lived, a manager who could make a team win just by his genius and willpower. When he decided to end his managing career, the great Manager has managed many a record and his feats will stand the test of time.

One can only wonder what would have been if he had become the manager of the English National Team during this period.
