US Womens Football Team Defender: Alex Morgan's opinion is the majority
The Americans defeated Japan 5-2 in the final at the 2015 World Cup in Canada, with Carli Lloyd scoring a hat trick in a blistering opening 16 minutes.
The current squad includes 12 players who were on that 2015 World Cup team.
The top-ranked Americans have seven wins and two draws since a January 19 loss at France, outscoring opponents 28-8 in the process.
That defeat ended a 28-game unbeaten streak and, while the current run has been largely against lesser opponents, confidence is high.
Jill Ellis' side will round out their tournament preparation with a training camp at Tottenham Hotspurs facility in London.
The U.S. are in Group F at the World Cup and after playing Thailand, they close group play against Chile and Sweden.
