Former Arsenal midfielder Alex Song is ready to leave Barcelona, alerting Liverpool and Manchester United to his future, according to the Daily Mail.
Song, 26, is struggling at Barcelona and is very unlikely to ever start regularly in their midfield and looks certain the leave the club in the summer. He joined the Spanish giants two years ago but has had to play second fiddle to Sergio Busquets in midfield and, after being linked with several Premier League clubs, he now looks close to leaving.
Song has been watched closely by Manchester United for a number of months, who are believed to hold a very strong interest in the midfielder.
Also, with the new manager Luis Enrique in place, his future could be sorted out for him if the former Barcelona midfielder does not deem him fit enough to play a part in his squad.
It is yet uncertain how much Song would cost should he demand to leave the Spanish club but with Manchester United set for an expensive summer, he won’t be cheap if the former Premier League champions get involved.
Liverpool could be interested as the Reds look to cover their midfield. The Reds lack a complete defensive midfielder and with speculation that Lucas Leiva could be on his way out, Song could be an adequate replacement.
Song has also been linked with a return to his former club, Arsenal, who are in search of a new central midfielder. He played over 200 games for the Gunners before moving to Barcelona.
