Russian club Dynamo Moscow have confirmed that signing of Dutch full-back Alexander Buttner on Tuesday. The club’s official statement said that there are few technical details to be sorted out with Manchester United before the deal is finalised, but also confirmed that Buttner has joined the team’s training camp in Austria.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Buttner said, “I want to play in the Champions League and win trophies. Dynamo are building a very strong team and I am sure that we will be good enough to try and win the league title this season.”
“This is my first time in Moscow and I will need time to adjust with my family. They flew out with me, so it would be easier to adapt. The training ground also has fantastic facilities. I am happy that I joined Dynamo” he added.
Manchester United had a disastrous league campaign in 2013-14 as they finished in seventh position, thereby missing out on European competitions for the first time in two decades. Meanwhile, Dynamo Moscow finished fourth in the Russian League and will play in the Europa League.
Coming from the Ajax’s youth system, Alexander Buttner joined Manchester United in 2012 after signing a five-year deal with the red devils. Despite putting in consistent performances, Buttner just played 14 games for Manchester United last season.
Besides, Buttner openly complained last week that his Dutch boss Louis van Gaal never considered him for the national squad, in spite of his decent performances.
Louis van Gaal’s appointment as next Manchester United manager and the potential arrival of England youngster Luke Shaw to Old Trafford seemed to have urged the 25-year-old left back to fancy a move away from the club.
