Alexis Sanchez admits he is delighted to be joining Arsenal, after completing his move to north London today following weeks of negotiations.
The Gunners had been chasing the Chilean striker since Barcelona made him available, following the takeover of new manager Luis Enrique. Sanchez joined the Catalan giants from Udinese a few seasons ago and despite having impressed at Barcelona, Enrique was keen to offload him in order to raise funds for new signings – including Luis Suarez.
There were suggestions that Sanchez chose Arsenal over Juventus and Liverpool due to his preference to living in the capital, which he did indeed mention during his interview, insisting that he cannot wait to play in the capital.
He admits he is delighted to be joining the Gunners and cannot wait to get started under Arsene Wenger, with Sanchez also revealing that London is where he wanted to be.
Sanchez told the club’s official site: “I’m so happy to be joining Arsenal, a club which has a great manager, a fantastic squad of players, huge support around the world and a great stadium in London.
“I’m looking forward to meeting my new team-mates and to be playing for Arsenal in the Premier League and Champions League. I will give my best to Arsenal and want to make all the supporters happy.”
