Algeria draw the curtain in Group E of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers when they play host to Liberia at the Hocine Ait Ahmed Stadium on Sunday. The Desert Warriors head into the weekend unbeaten in seven straight games against the visitors and will be looking to extend this dominant run.
Algeria’s 100% record in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers came to an end on Thursday when they were held to a goalless draw by Equatorial Guinea at the Nuevo Estadio de Malabo.
Before that, the Desert Warriors were on a fine winning streak, edging out Uganda 2-1 in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on June 10 before claiming four straight victories in their first four AFCON qualifying games.
With 13 points from five matches, Algeria currently lead the way at the top of the Group E standings, five points above second-placed Equatorial Guinea heading into the group finale.
Elsewhere, Mohammed Sangare grabbed the headlines for Liberia in midweek as he netted his second-half penalty to hand them a 1-0 victory over Togo at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex.
Mario Marinica’s men had failed to win their opening four qualifying games, losing three and claiming one draw while conceding seven goals and scoring twice in that time.
Liberia have picked up four points from a possible 15 to sit third in the Group E standings, four points behind second-placed Equatorial Guinea in the second qualifying spot.
