Midfielders
Paul Pogba
It was a clear intent from Manchester United when they paid a then world record fee for a player they sold four years ago. Though he was sublime on occasions, he struggled for consistency at times.
He was also unfairly criticized for United’s poor performances. The 25-year-old has scored 11 goals and assisted 15 more in his two Premier League seasons at the club. He was exceptional for France in the 2018 World Cup and played a huge role in their title win.
N’Golo Kante
The Frenchman is arguably the best defensive midfielder in the world right now. He played a stellar role in Leicester City’s title win and repeated the same for Chelsea a year later. He was also phenomenal for France in the 2018 World Cup win.
Kante himself revealed that Jose Mourinho tried to sign him during the summer of 2016 before his move to Chelsea. Despite discussions with Mourinho, Kante finally moved to Stamford Bridge. United then paid a world record fee to sign Paul Pogba from Juventus.
Jorginho
Linked with Manchester United last summer, Jorginho made his move to Chelsea when Maurizio Sarri took charge at the club. Regarded as one of the best passers in the game, Jorginho was exceptional for Napoli last season.
Ever since his move to Stamford Bridge, Jorginho is at the heart of Chelsea’s midfield and playing an important role under Sarri. With 20 points, Chelsea are currently tied for the top spot in the Premier League with Liverpool and Manchester City.
