The future of Alvaro Morata at Juventus is still up in the air. Some reports are linking him with a move back to Real Madrid while there also remains a strong interest from clubs in the Premier League. He has remained tight-lipped on his future until now.
Morata has revealed he's received offers from English clubs and he is considering a move to the country. The 23-year-old had earlier given a vague response when asked about a return to Madrid saying anything was possible.
Morata had a good season for Juventus but not in the goalscoring sense. His link up play with Paulo Dybala served as one of the key ingredients to Juventus’ title march. But he does have concerns over his starting position at the club.
Morato spoke to AS about the offers he has received. He was very intent on succeeding at Madrid but mentioned his temptation at other opportunities as well. “That is my wish, to succeed in Madrid. But in Madrid, there are great players. And what I want is to play and feel important.”
“There are some offers from England that are tempting , not only by the contract. I think my characteristics suit the Premier League – it would be a great destination. The Premier League would not be a step backwards.”
“With what I have learned in Italy, if I have the chance to learn something more in England I think it would make me a more complete, better player. I am 23 years old and what I want is to progress, play, learn from the best and continue my development.”
Morata was sold by Florentino Perez two seasons ago after he was found surplus to requirements at Los Blancos. But the same year he returned to haunt them by knocking them out of the Champions league.
Zidane knows he also has to build for the future and might look at the Spaniard as someone who fits that bill. Morata’s primary concern will be first team football, something he will get at Arsenal, one of the clubs strongly linked with a move.
Wenger needs to improve the options he has up front. Mesut Ozil’s created a record number of chances in the Premier League last season but Olivier Giroud’s poor form let all that creative intent to waste.
With Danny Welbeck also suffering from a long-term injury, acquiring Morata might not be the worst thing in the world.
