We’re four days into the January transfer window now. So far, Arsenal hasn’t made any signings as such. Chamakh has been sent on loan to West Ham for 6 months but he will not play against Arsenal. The Gunners are currently sixth in the table and if they want a shot at the title and/or that UEFA Champions League spot, they’re going to have to step it up and buy some convincing players.
Here are some of the things Arsenal should do in January.
David Villa is a world renowned striker. Even at the age of 31, he keeps on scoring. Failing to make frequent starts for Barça, he has scored 5 goals in 6 starts and 6 substitutions. He has at least two or three more good years left in him and we should maximize that as much as we can. We can get David Villa for about £16 million, which isn’t much considering what all he’s capable of. He may not be the tallest but David Villa’s finishing is extremely clinical and he’s amazing in dead ball situations as well. Another reason to buy Villa is that he has experience. He is Spain’s top goalscorer, after all.
Wilfried Zaha. Everyone has heard this name. He’s been called the next big thing. Extremely pacey and skilful on the ball, Zaha never disappoints. He’s earned himself a permanent starting spot at Crystal Palace and is looking for a Premier League transfer as well. Zaha is versatile, as he is able to play up front and as a winger. He’s made about 120 appearances for the Crystal Palace senior team and has found the back of the net 15 times. Those are good statistics for someone who is only 17 years old. Arsenal and Manchester United aren’t in the race for his signature for nothing, are they? But I think Arsenal have the upper hand as Zaha has said that he’s a Gunner and has been supporting Arsenal since he was a child, but you never know how these things might work out. Arsenal are willing to pay £10 million for him even though Crystal Palace want about £14 million.
It’s time, Arsene. Get rid of the deadwood players already. Djourou has spent 10 years at the club and isn’t getting much game time. Either we should loan him out for a year or just sell him off. There is interest from Hannover 96 for him and hopefully a deal can be finalized in January itself. As for Chamakh, he was such a great player at the start but now he’s lost his touch and hopefully he can regain it after this loan spell at West Ham. He deserves to play and hopefully we sell him off to a Ligue 1 team in the summer or something of that sort. And for our favourite legend, Sebastian Squilacci? SELL HIM. He barely gets a bench spot, let alone starting spot. The reason I’m saying this is because he earns £60,000/week. We can cut his wages or sell him. Hopefully these wages can be put towards Theo who will hopefully “Sign Da Ting.”
Theo Walcott has UNDOUBTEDLY been our best player this season. He has been extremely consistent, which is very unusual considering it’s Walcott but let’s face it, if we want to progress, he has to sign a new contract. Everybody’s desperate for his signature. Fans even made a song for him. Apparently, Podolski even sings it to him in the dressing room. Walcott has found the net 14 times this season and just can’t seem to stop. If anyone is questioning his £100k/week demand, just watch his hat-trick against Newcastle. Give him the hundred, he fully deserves it. And not only is he doing well as a striker but he’s playing well as a winger as well, assisting 10 times. Walcott loves the club as well and has said he would like things to be sorted out, too. Well, what are you waiting for Theo? Sign da ting!
And that’s it.
I think that if we can do these things, Arsenal really can come third in the Premier League. And hopefully we can end our trophy drought as well.
Come on you Gunners.
