Carlo Ancelotti revealed that he would love to have Barcelona forward Lionel Messi in his side and see the Argentine lead the charge alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.
Speaking in a press conference ahead of Real Madrid’s match against Atletico Madrid, Ancelotti was quoted by Spanish agency AS saying, “I think Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi will one day play in the same team. I do.”
“We need to bear in mind that Cristiano is Real’s flagship player as Messi is Barcelona’s,” he added. “With this in mind, it is quite difficult to see them together in the same team as both of them have history in their clubs. But it would be great for any team to have them both.”
Though it is true that Real Madrid are one of the clubs who could afford Messi financially, having two great figures under the same banner could lead to eruption of numerous arguments between the duo. Also, the light of El Classico would start to dim for the fans who often expect to see a turbulent clash between the rivals.
Regardless of what their future holds, the pair have always been a privilege to watch in action as they continue to be the top scorers of their corresponding clubs.
Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo added another feather to his cap by winning his third Fifa Ballon D’Or trophy for his performance in 2014 followed by Lionel Messi and Manuel Neuer. The title was held by Messi for four consecutive years until the streak was broken by his arch rival in 2013.
