Manchester United player Oliveira Anderson could be on his way to Primeira Liga giant Benfica. The Estadio da Luz outfit see the unselfish midfield workhorse as a suitable replacement for Belgium international Axel Witsel who is attracting the interest of several leading clubs, including both Manchester City and Manchester United.
Anderson Luís de Abreu Oliveira, to give him his full name, first appeared for local team Gremio and then FC Porto before he signed with Manchester United for a cool £18 million at the beginning of the 2007-08 campaign. While at Manchester United, the multifunctional player has endured a miserable time with niggling injuries and his first team appearances have been fairly infrequent. Given his geographical background, however, it is probably only fair to claim that the samba styled midfielder was not properly prepared for the pace and physicality of the game in England. An international for Brazil, Anderson made his senior debut in a disappointing 2–0 defeat against Mexico at the Polideportivo Cachamay in June 2007 and has played eight games for his country. Anderson Club Career: Gremio Foot-Ball Porto Alegrense, Futebol Clube do Porto, Manchester United.
