Remember that incredibly fast run made by Manchester United’s new signing Angel Di Maria against Queens Park Rangers? It turns out that, although that was lightning quick, he wasn’t the fastest player on the pitch.
The fastest player on the pitch (for this game) was none other than Red Devils captain Wayne Rooney!
The English forward reached a top speed of 32.7 km/hr (20.3 mph) when he tried to outrun QPR’s Rio Ferdinand. Di Maria comes in second, just a tad bit slower at 32.3 km/hr (20.1 mph) followed by substitute Valencia and defender Jonny Evans who were tied at 32.2 km/hr (20 mph).
Both full bakcs Marcos Rojo and Rafael also went over 30 km/hr while Adnan Januzaj didn’t have enough time to actually show his pace, clocking a top speed of just 25.7 km/hr (15.9 mph).
Meanwhile, Ander Herrera covered the most distance for the Red Devils – a total of 12.2 km. He was closely followed by Daley Blind (11.9 km) and Rojo (11.4 km).
