Despite several rumours linking him away from Old Trafford, Angel Di Maria has insisted that he will return to Manchester United after the Copa America campaign with Argentina. the former Real Madrid man had a promising start to his Manchester United career after his £59.7 million move, but it petered out as the season went on.
When queried about his potential move away from the club, Di Maria said, “I have just finished my first season playing for Manchester United.
“Now I will play the Copa America and then I will move back to Manchester for next season and do my best there. It was a hard season for me.
“I think it was hard because it was another country and another league, and this league is harder than the Spanish one.
Tough to adapt to the Premier League: Di Maria
The Argentine also spoke about how tough it was to adapt to the physically stronger EPL compared to how it was in La Liga. According to him, La Liga was less physical.
“I couldn't adapt myself as I wanted to. La Liga and the Premier League are completely different. The Premier League is physically stronger.
He also spoke about the fact that United boss Louis van Gaal played him in different positions before he was benched. “It was not easy at all. I ended playing few minutes. Under Van Gaal, I played in lots of positions until he decided to bench me.
“I think I did a good job, though. I finished second in assists and I scored some goals, so I definitely think I did well in my first season at Manchester United.
The Argentine has been linked with the French champions Paris Saint-Germain, but the move doesn’t look too likely in light of this proclamation from him.
