Finally after 2 seasons of one of the biggest transfer sagas on the planet, Antoine Griezmann has finally broken his silence and revealed that he does not want to be an Atletico Madrid player from next season onwards.

Since the last few transfer windows, Griezmann has been linked with Atletico's Spanish counterparts FC Barcelona, and the rumours fueled after the Frenchman lifted the World Cup last summer in Russia.

But the two Spanish and European giants could not agree on a deal for the move of the player, and Griezmann to Barcelona ended up being only a newspaper headline.

Today Atletico Madrid have confirmed Griezmann's departure through their official website and their twitter handle, have a look:

With the news official now, all the footballing giants in Europe must be on a high alert to sign the 28-year-old and boost their squad as Griezmann has been one of the world's best players in the past few years, and his prowess was visible in France's last year's World Cup triumph.

Today, we take a look at the top 3 possible destinations for Griezmann as he departs from the Rojiblancos:

#3 Manchester United

Manchester United have been tracking the attacker since a long time
Manchester United have been tracking the attacker since a long time

Manchester United have been interested in signing Antoine Griezmann since the Louis van Gaal days, and finally, with the attacker revealing his plans to quit Atletico, the Red Devils might just get their shot at a real possibility of signing him.

With no Champions League football next season, and Europa League qualification still depending on their qualifiers, Manchester United are no more in the controlling position to sign world class players very easily just based on reputation.

But, it is Manchester United, possibly English football's biggest club ever - and that makes a move to Old Trafford a very lucrative option to any player on this planet.

United are going to have to splash a lot of money to Atletico for the forward, probably much more than the other interested clubs due to the club not being in the Champions League next season. With Pogba rumoured to leave United, his move might just finance the Griezmann deal for the English club.

#2 Paris Saint-Germain

Griezmann could also return to France

Paris Saint-Germain faced another set-back in their long-drawn European dreams when they were beaten at home by Manchester United in the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League even after 2 crucial away goals.

Even though the French giants cruised to an easy Ligue 1 title, the celebrations would have been much bigger if the club was still in the running for the the European title, which the club and its fans have been craving for since a long time now.

With Edinson Cavani ageing, PSG are all set to find a replacement in the front three alongside Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, and Griezmann's recent revelation must have tilted a few heads in the French club's board room.

France is Griezmann's home country, and that adds a lot of advantage for PSG if they move into advanced negotiations for the player.

Maybe, Griezmann and PSG, both might get a shot at the Champions League next season if they join hands, to topple the other European giants like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus and Liverpool.

#1 FC Barcelona

Barcelona seems the likeliest destination for the attacker

FC Barcelona had a similar fate as Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League when they were ousted 4-0 by Liverpool at Anfield after a 3-0 win in the first leg of the semi-final. Many Barca fans are calling this one of the worst results in the history of the club.

The Catalan giants are the favourites to sign Griezmann as they have been interested in the attacking player since a long time and have had bids rejected by Atletico at the beginning of the season.

With Philippe Coutinho almost certain to leave Barcelona, and Ousmanne Dembele still far from filling Neymar's shoes, Griezmann will be a perfect fit in the Barcelona front three which already contains Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

With Frenkie de Jong already signed from Ajax, and Matthijs de Ligt an almost certain possibility, it will be a revamped strong Barcelona side next season and Griezmann could only add more to the squad with his experience and amazing style of play.
