The Italian Football Federation have appointed former Juventus manager Antonio Conte as Italy’s new head coach on Thursday evening, replacing Cesare Prandelli, who resigned following Italy’s elimination from the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
In an official report on the IFA’s website, it read:
“President of the Federation Tavecchio and Antonio Conte agreed the final details of a new cooperation between the former Juventus coach and the FIGC over the telephone this morning. The negotiation, which was conducted by Giulia Mancini on behalf of Conte and by lawyer Mario Gallavotti on behalf of the FIGC, resulted in an agreement until 31st July 2016.”
“Italy’s new head coach shared both his project for the relaunch of the national team and the project concerning the development of new Azzurri players in Federal Training Centres with President Tavecchio. Conte will also be heavily involved with the youth system as coordinator of all youth teams, a position which was previously held by Arrigo Sacchi.”
