Barcelona star, Arda Turan, has been offered a massive multi-million dollar deal to join an unknown Chinese side, report Sport. The Turkish international only joined Barcelona last summer and has already been offered an escape given he's been unable to break into the first team often enough.
Barcelona have a solid midfield in Sergio Busquets, Ivan Rakitic and Andres Iniesta but the signing of Turan was expected to shake things up given the Turk was exceptional during his time with rivals Atletico Madrid. However, that has failed to happen a move abroad is touted.
The Chinese Super League division 1 and 2 have signed multiple superstars this season with the likes of Gervinho, Paulinho, Alex Teixeira and more joining the Asian league for massive amounts of money but the possibility of a Barcelona superstar moving from Europe's top club – UEFA Champions League winners – to the Chinese league would represent a coup for the latter.
The former Galatasaray man joined Atletico Madrid in 2011 and impressed newly-appointed Diego Simeone instantaneously but when a club of the stature that Real Madrid and Barcelona possess come calling, clubs can do little to prevent their players from leaving. Turan joined Barcelona for €34 million but was unable to play for the first six months of the season due to the transfer embargo that Barcelona were under.
His proper season started only in January and already – we're only in April – has been linked with a move elsewhere. The reports could either mean the agents are aware of how unhappy Turan is at the Catalan club or that Barcelona are really considering selling him given he hasn't fit into their 'system' per se.
If Barcelona do decide to sell him away to the Chinese, they'll surely make a profit on the player given the length of his contract remaining and that they'd be ready to milk every little cents they can off the Chinese for one of Europe's top midfielders.
