A representative from current table toppers Chelsea was present at Anfield on Monday to watch 26-year-old Swansea striker Wilfred Bony in action. Liverpool were playing Swansea City at home and eventually won the fixture 4-1, with Bony failing to score on the night.Bony has had a good season so far at the club, having scored 8 goals in 19 games.
Representing the Blues at Anfield was their Chief European Scout Mick Doherty.Despite not having the best of games on Monday, Bony’s chances of a possible move to Stamford Bridge in the January transfer market cannot be ruled considering he scored 20 goals for Swansea in 2014.
The Reds, too have shown interest in him in the past, but currently they aren’t in a position to bid for him until the summer and considering that, it could be a great opportunity for Jose Mourinho and co. to rope in Bony as a possible replacement for veteran Didier Drogba.
The 36-year-old has had a good second-coming at Chelsea so far, but with only six months left in his current contract, the Blues will certainly look to plan for the future.
However, if the club does sign the Ivorian, then they may have to wait for a while before he can make his debut as he will be representing his country in the African Nations Cup. Ivory Coast’s final group fixture in the tournament is on January 28th and the wait could get extended if they make it to the final, scheduled on February 8th.
