Lionel Messi has struggled to replicate his Barcelona form for Argentina

Diego Simeone’s brother-in-law Carlos Dibos who worked as a physical trainer for the Argentina national team has accused Lionel Messi of selecting players and managers he was comfortable with in the national team.

“Messi picked managers and players and did whatever he wanted with the national team. Now the truth is out, we’re sick [of his behaviour] in Argentina. We’re going to make that very clear”, stated Dibos, who worked with the Argentina national team from 2006-2008.

He also took a go at Messi for not wanting Simeone to be the manager of the Argentina national team.

“Resentment, begrudgery and selfishness mean people can have crazy opinions in this country. I can’t believe there are journalists and pundits out there who say Simeone can’t manage the national team because Messi wouldn’t want him in charge. They’re bonkers”, he exclaimed.

Dibos also praised Diego Simeone saying that luck had no role in Atletico Madrid’s brilliant run to the Champions League finals. Speaking to Radio La Red, he said:

“Luck hasn’t gotten him to his second Champions League finals”

“Diego is constantly working. Nothing is left to chance. Since marrying his sister twenty years ago I’ve spent a lot of time with him. I’ve watched his training session and I take my hat off to him [for the work he is doing]”, he concluded.

Although Lionel Messi is hugely popular in his native country Argentina, there is a section of the population there who feel Messi does not try hard enough for the national team. The world’s best player will be looking to prove his doubters wrong in the future tournaments.

Simeone admits he would like to coach Argentina in the future

Diego Simeone is doing an incredible job at Atletico Madrid. His team are in the race for the La Liga title as well as being in the Champions League final. But according to Sport-English, he would someday want to coach the Argentinian national team.

Simeone was asked about his relationship with Barcelona’s Lionel Messi to which he replied, “He is the best in the world. We always talk and say hello. We have a normal relationship, just like I do with [Javier] Mascherano.”

The Argentine has always spoken of his desire to manage the national team sometime in the future and seeing the excellent results he is getting with Atletico Madrid, fans of the Argentina national team will be gear to get Cholo on board.
