Mexico City, Dec 29 (IANS) Argentine forward Julio Furch has joined Mexico's Tiburones Rojos (Red Sharks), in a bid to bolster the football club from the Gulf Coast state of Veracruz.
The 25-year-old German-Argentine Furch, who is nicknamed "The Russian", Sunday signed a three-year contract with the team, reports Xinhua.
Prior to this move, Furch played for Argentine League teams Olimpo, San Lorenzo, Arsenal and Belgrano, and has scored eight goals in 18 games with the last team.
"I played many years in Argentina (and) I really wanted to play abroad. Luckily, the Veracruz (deal) came through pretty quickly and I'm happy about that," Furch was quoted as saying by Mexico's Televisa TV network.
"I know the Mexican League is hard and tough, I hope I can do well and fulfil the expectations of the team," added Furch.
Tiburones, a first division team that currently is in 12th place in the standings, has three other Argentine players in their lineup, as well as players from Colombia, Chile and Uruguay.
