The training session of the Netherlands team almost ended in a brawl as Arjen Robben was angered after a rough challenge by defender Bruno Martins Indi.
During their pre-world cup training camp in Rio, the Dutch winger Arjen Robben clashed with his teammate Bruno Martins Indi after a tough tackle by the Feyenoord defender.
The first time they came together, Robben was on the ground clutching his back after a rough challenge. After another similar challenge, Robben was enraged and tried to kick out at Martins Indi. Robben then left the field for a brief moment but returned unhurt providing a sense of relief to the coaching staff.
While Robben kept his lips tight, Martins Indi accused Robben of “falling needlessly.” Speaking to the media, he said, “'We had a little head-to-head. Arjen is a good dribbler. I thought he fell needlessly once.”
The Dutch team has already been hurt by injuries to two key players – Kevin Strootman and Rafael van der Vaart. Another injury would be a big blow to the Oranje as they face the defending champions Spain in their opening encounter.
