The English starlet had done well at Arsenal's right-hand side throughout Hector Bellerin's absence. His excellent dribbling and solid defensive contribution have stolen Emery's trust, as the 21-year-old started ahead of veteran defender Stephan Lichtsteiner most times.
Emery gave him a very challenging task at this game, deploying the Englishman head-to-head against Chelsea megastar Eden Hazard. The Arsenal academy product, however, did the job well for the first half of the match. He left the Belgian with only a little space to play and helped the Gunner's attack with several dangerous crosses.
Unfortunately, he started to crumble at the second half, as most of Chelsea's goals were coming from Arsenal's right flank. He was nowhere near Emerson and Hazard when both Chelsea players were involved in the Blues's first and second goal respectively. His clumsy challenge also led to Hazard's penalty at the 65th minute.
Ainsley might have enormous talent and would play an essential role for the Gunners in the future. However, this match has proven that he is not yet ready to become Emery's regular at the moment.
