Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade Chamberlain scored both goals as Arsenal beat Crystal Palace 2-0 at the Emirates on Sunday and admitted that he is looking to add more goals to his game.

The former Southampton man impressed in a central midfield role on his first start since his return from injury and told Sky Sports that he is keen to continue the “amazing feeling” of scoring.

“It’s something I want to add to my game – more goals – so it was nice to get two today.

“It’s always an amazing feeling to score a goal and especially at a stadium like the Emirates and I’m glad I can help the team with two goals.”

Oxlade-Chamberlain’s opening goal ended a period of stubborn Palace resistance and the youngster continued by talking about the test posed by the visitors.

“It was a tough game against Palace and they made it hard for us in the first half.”

“But in the second half we knew if we kept the tempo up and kept wearing them down then we’d get more opportunities and we did.”

“It was really nice to get a start. Obviously it was my first start since my injury on the first day of the season it was nice to get out there and in the midfield – it’s nice that the boss has faith in me there.”

Arsenal have a tough run of fixtures ahead of them, with their next four games seeing them face Manchester United, Liverpool (twice) and Bayern Munich, but Oxlade-Chamberlain was optimistic ahead of the crunch period.

“We’ve got a lot of hard fixtures but (have to take it) one step at a time,” he said.

“We’ve got a really big game at Liverpool away and we’re looking to put this one behind us and take the positives from it and prepare to hopefully go and get three points from Liverpool.”

Oxalde Chamberlain won four of his five attempted tackles against Palace, as well as scoring both goals.
