Benjamin Mendy could well be the next starlet to join the Arsenal squad, as reports suggest that Arsenal have tabled a bid of £2.5million for the Le Havre left back.
However, the Ligue 2 club is holding on to the player stating that only an offer in the region of £5m will force the club to part with the 18-year-old defender. Arsenal also face stiff competition from Sunderland, Cardiff, Lyon and Juventus.
Mendy was first linked with Arsenal in 2011 before signing a contract at Le Havre. He has represented France at every age group up to his current involvement in the U19 squad.
The summer is proving to be full of surprises for Arsenal fans with the manager changing his approach in the transfer market and going for experienced star players like Gonzalo Higuain, Marouane Fellaini and Wayne Rooney. But it looks as if Wenger is not done and dusted with his policy of buying young talent and nurturing them into future stars.
This time, the fans won’t be furious with Wenger as he is looking to spend the money not only on young players but on top class individuals as well.
