Brazil’s Alexandre Pato who is now plying his trade in his native country with Corinthians has been rumoured as a potential target for Premier League outfit Arsenal.
Pato who moved to AC Milan back in 2007 was tagged as a “Wonder Kid” and the Brazilian did live up to the expectations at the start of his Milan career. However, constant injuries and lack of fitness pushed the striker down the pecking order and having spent 6 seasons with the Serie A club, he moved back to Brazil.
Pato was initially offered a contract by Arsenal’s London rivals Tottenham, but the striker snubbed it and stayed back with Corinthians.
“I received offers, they called Corinthians, sent a fax, to sign me in the window, but I sat down with the staff, talked with my agent and I told them I wanted to stay,” he said at the time.
Reports in Brazil have now named the Gunners as another suitor for the under-fire forward, with boss Arene Wenger thought to be eager to bring in reinforcements for the remainder of the season as they look to push for the title.
Another bonus for Arsenal would be that the forward would also be available to play in the Champions League if he made the move in January, an attractive option if the club make it through the group stage. (Daily star)
