Arsenal charged over allegedly breaching agent regulations in Calum Chambers transfer

The FA has charged Arsenal over an alleged breach of agent regulations over the transfer of Calum Chambers from Southampton. The authorised agent who was part of the transfer, Alan Middleton has also been charged.

The FA statement on their official website read

“The charge is in relation to the transfer of Calum Chambers from Southampton to Arsenal on 26 July 2014.

Authorised agent Alan Middleton has also been charged for allegedly breaching The FA’s Football Agents Regulations in relation to the same transfer.

Mr Middleton has until 17 June 2015 to respond to the charge.

Arsenal have until 26 June 2015 after they requested more time to respond to the charge.

The 20-year-old defender, Chambers arrived at Arsenal at the beginning of last season for a fee of £16m after an impressive 2013-14 season for Southampton. He played a total of 28 matches for Arsenal last season.

Chambers made a total of 36 appearances for Arsenal in the 2014/15 season as Arsenal finished third in the Premier League. The youngster is set to feature for England Under-21 in the European Championships in the Czech Republic, which starts on Wednesday.

Arsenal have been given time till 26 June to respond to FA after they requested to be granted more time and the club insisted that they had acted in ‘good faith’ as far as the transfer was concerned.
