Arsenal favourites to sign Romanian striker Ciprian Marica

Having missed out on Gonzalo Higuain, Arsenal have now shifted their interest to Romanian striker Ciprian Marica.

Marica is available on a free transfer after leaving Schalke at the end of the last season and has attracted interest from top clubs like Inter Milan, Lazio and Shaktar Donetsk .

However, Arsenal seem firm favourites to sign the Romanian international.

Marica’s agent Giovani Becali told Romanian daily Ring: “He is close to Arsenal. We’ll see this week.” “Marica is a very good striker, a Romanian international and very experienced in western European football.

“It is normal that he is targeted by big clubs, all the more so after he has completed his contract with Schalke.”

The 27-year-old will certainly be a valuable addition to Arsenal’s strike force, should they sign him.
