Tricky Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin is close to a move to Ligue 2 side Tours as Arsene Wenger looks to trim his squad ahead of the 2014/15 season.
Coquelin has been with Arsenal since 2008 but he has only made 32 appearances since making his debut and now it looks as if his future lies away from the Emirates.
TalkSport report that a largely unsuccessful loan spell with Bundesliga side Freiburg hasn’t helped Coquelin’s cause although the report reiterates that it is unclear whether or not the move will be permanent or another loan.
The defensive midfielder has represented France at U21 level but his development hasn’t been as strong as Arsenal would have hoped and it seems unlikely that he will represent France at international level in the near future.
Arsenal finished fourth in the Premier League last season but at times their squad looked a little thin in certain areas. In order to address this Wenger has made it clear he will try and move fringe players on to allow him to sign more high profile players.
